Reproductive Medicine Congress and Expo (ASRM 2024)

From October 19 to 23, 2024, we attended the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Congress (ASRM) in Denver, Colorado, United States.

The event brought together experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, agencies, providers and clients interested in the latest advances in reproductive medicine, fertility and genetic technology.

Advances in gestational surrogacy

Gestational surrogacy was one of the topics of interest, reflecting its relevance in reproductive medicine and the expansion of family alternatives.

Gestational surrogacy: an evolving topic

One of the most interesting focuses of the congress was gestational surrogacy, a field that continues to evolve to offer safe and ethical options for both intended parents and surrogate mothers.

Gestational surrogacy not only represents hope for individuals and couples with fertility issues, but also poses complex ethical, legal and emotional challenges that vary from country to country.

In addition to these advances, highly relevant legal topics were addressed. The conference discussed how regulation in different countries affects access to gestational surrogacy, one of the most challenging aspects in the field.

New technologies, procedures and trends

Another innovative aspect discussed at the congress was the development of technologies that improve success rates in surrogate pregnancies.

One panel analysed how artificial intelligence and advanced genetic analysis are revolutionising embryo selection and optimising in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments. These improvements not only increase the chances of success, but also reduce the associated risks for the surrogate mother.

Some agencies and clinics highlighted their surrogacy services, supporting the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ communities in these procedures, which indicates a trend towards greater acceptance and diversity in access to fertility options, including gestational surrogacy.

Overall, the congress offered a comprehensive platform to address innovations and challenges in all aspects of reproductive medicine.
